running on treadmill advice...

For just over a month ( started Jan 1st) i've been running on the treadmill at home, about 4/5 times a day..

i think i'm getting better, what i normally do is i walk at about 3mph at an incline of 1.5%(?) for about 10 mins then run at 4.5mph for as long a i can really then do 10 mins at 3mph to cool down.

when i started i could barely run for 10mins, now it averages from about 20mins to 40mins depending how tired i am...

should i run quicker now but for less time then or stick at what i'm doing?

i'm not doing any weights though as i haven't got any and aiming morefor loosing weight and toning the body..

thanks for any advice...

if your just after a bit of general tning, what you are doning is fine, up the incline during the main part of your run/jog and keep the distance/time the same for now
