savoury protein bars?

Has anyone ever seen these?

All protein drinks and bars seem to be sweet type flavours (choc, vanilla, strawberry etc.).

A lot of the time I crave something savoury and although a protein bar or drink does take the edge off and stop me having something worse like a pizza, it would be nice to have a hit ofsavoury rather than sweet sometimes.

I'd have thought something like a cheese and tomato, or cheese and onion bar would be fairly easy.......thinking about it the bars seem a better product to make savoury than the drinks.

If it has been tried then apologies, but if not then what does anyone think?

I wish I was more attractive like Dagless.

Never seen them as such but I guess you could make your own pizza base but throw in a load of unflavoured whey. However this could take a few attempts to get right but once mastered you could put anything you like on top.

fair enough, sounds nice to me though, I get sick of chocolate shake, chocolate bar style protein bars, vanilla shake, protein cookie, protein flapjack etc. all sweet stuff..........I suppose I could just have a chicken sandwich or some food if I'mafter savoury, but the convenience of a bar is desirable

can see what your saying mate, i suppose all the proteins do tend to be on the sweet side.  maybe its because they fullfill the sweet tooth without actually being bad foods and thats what most want.

bit of a bugger if you dont really have a sweet foods craving!  i suppose a savory protein bar could be nice if it was done right, not sure of what the flarour would need to be.  if it tasted good then i think i would soon get over the ewww factor and enjoy one of two!

just for some reason i cant get my head round the fact a bar would look nothing like the food it was ment to taste like, where for some reason chocolate or berry bars just seem right in concept.

meat flavourings are pretty common in the food industry, so im pretty sure it would be possible.

What about just having some peanuts? I find peanut butter to be savoury - well it's a bit inbetween but I suppose it would depend what you put with it. I always add honey and cocoa when making protein bars, so that obviously makes it sweet but you could maybe go with peanut butter, whey and something savoury and strong such as parmesan cheese......

On second thoughts, that sounds rank!!

Was going to mention beef jerky but dont eat it much anymore.  Mixed nuts are what i reach for when having an in between meal snack especially when trying to lose weight.
