skipping is really good as you can add HIIT to it .

skip for 10 mins and at each minute add a 15 second sprint or jump , what ever you find easiest .

Skipping is fine. Just another form of cardio. As mentioned above, you can do HIIT style as well.

Might get annoyed with it eventually though, can try other forms of cardio you enjoy as well to mix things up a bit and stuff. Can try different 'skips' to make those 20 min. go by more easily...doing the same 'skip' for 20min. straight a couple times a week can get to you lol.

I know its an old thread but was just wondering would skipping 3 times a week for 20mins be enough cardio to loose a bit of belly fat (along witha good diet of course)

It would be far from my choice of cardio... although this is personal preference, i find it causes my shoulders to tense up too much if done for any length.

It simply comes down to what sort of pace you can maintain whilst skipping. Too intense and you won't burn much fat.

Also, as you may or may not know, you can't just burn 'belly fat', the fat will be burnt all over.

For fat loss i would recommend cardio sessions longer than 20 minutes, more like 30 mins at an absolute minimum and upto 60 minutes if required.

Cheers noname. Find my cardio to be sh1t. Need to build the lenght of time I can go for up gradualy.

Might do skipping as warm up and then hit the threadmill.

    Thanks again

skipping is good, I like it but can't do it for too long as I get too bored with it, need to add some more variation to it. lots of boxers use it... you can get weighted ropes to help work your arms a bit more whilst you are skipping and something else you could try if you have the time or a class near you would be circuit training, I find them enjoyable and gives you more variation, you can also work at your own pace.
