Am I the only one thinking that his petulent display not only deserves punishment via the law but a punishment from Liverpool and the FA eg game suspension.

Guys such as Gerrard are idolised by thousands of impressionable youngsters, it would be shame to see him getting a mild ticking off thus contributing to a belief in his young fans that you can act improperly and 'get away with it'.

    absolutely agree

He will do no time as he is being prosecuted for affray not assault. Suspended sentence at most if at all

It's possible to receive a custodial sentence for affray, although I agree it is unlikely in his case.

As much as his actions are that of a horrible little thug on this occasion I don't think he should necessarily be given a different sentence to any other person.  When you start to have one law for one person etc etc then it all starts to go tits-up.

    Truth be this.

Never will someone of his fame see time in Prison, unless they do something really stupid.

Anyway I thought it was pretty compulsory to get drunk and punch someone on a night out in Liverpool. Isn't it a slap on the wrist there?

I do think that the fact he is famous has got nothing to do with it and should be completely seperated from this issue. Thousands of young men and women get pis.sed and act like idiots every weekend and go unpunished and just put it down to experience.

If people who idolise him think  he can do i so im gonna go and do the same the weekend then there just plain stupid and have no brains.

All his mates (6 others IIRC) have pleaded guilty, he hasn't. Wonder if they're taking a hit for some small recompense...? just wondering, that's all
