I'd say if you have to take AAS to QUALIFY then don't bother, I think AAS should be something to supplement your natural capability DURING a tournament.

I think AAS is better for weight gain on your body, not for strength, even though there are types that are more for strength purposes.

If you do take any and you qualify, don't expect to become world champ strength gains would be amazing if they got you 20kg up.

Qualify naturally work hard, then if you need them take them... but only if you hit plateau.

yeah sorry paulie your stand against them is fine but are not realistic.
you state they are for muscle gain not strength... WHAT?
Do you think marius, sven and all the others are clean. top strongmen use almost the amounts of pro bodybuilders

please dont post this kind of information without fact to back it up.

powerhouse i would advise a real basic course depending on your previous if any history of AAS usage.

a simple testoterone with a few d boll(i.e 20mg per day) will greatly assist your strength mate.

I think you are looking at this from the wrong angle.
you should be looking at what would be required of you in this particular comp, then working out how much chemical assistance you need to meet these requirements (not whether the next man needs gear ,whether or not YOU do) obviously the higher you go the more likely you are to need some help.
Strongman really is more about genetics and hard work and diet than how much gear you take, yes, you will inevitably end up taking AS but don't get caught up in the twisted thinking that a certain amount of a certain type of gear will make or break you

hey guys cheers for the critism and advice
the quals are in feb and lifts are

    shoulder press 107 k
    dead 250
    squat 220
and various other loga and barrel work
my weakness is my shoulder press only maxing on 98 k and needing that extra weight
im weighin in at 103 kilos and pretty low bf% but will be bulking later on
    im a bodybuilder turning strongman
yea i know that the use ov AAS is one ov the building blocks in a regime and am not relying on this to much to get me up there bearing in mind im only 21 aswell i have a lot ov years to go

cheers guys and advice for geting this log up would be great

2 things that pushed my shoulder press from ****e to one of my best lifts.

    1. heavy dumbell press these are my numero uno i have ironed out so many strength imbalences with these babies and you can mix them up heavy and for reps.

    2. standing strict military press from the racks, strict in terms of pressing it so you have to move your face back. no outwards thrust. each rep from a standstill no momentum.

Steroids will help, but if its just to bring you to qualifying level then it's not worth it, because if he can just qualify he won't get nowhere.

    Just my opinion.

Oh also, 20kg wasn't a random figure, I've read alot of steroid boards and the most I see people claim to gain in strength is 20kg.

But like I said it's just my opinion, there's better authority and you shouldn't take what I say as the right advice anyway, use your own head.

    LOL

Yes White I agree, I mean 20kg added to your dumbell curl is impressive. Added to the deadlift it's not.

does the shoulder press have to be strict in the comp cause i noticed gary taylor in the strong man did push presses or ever power jerks and as a rule throught obviously bring your legs into the aquasion you can do lots more 100k push press should be easy
