supermarket secrets!!

Hi all, has anybody been watching this program on tv?(uk) bearing in mind how much food we all eat.. it basicly shows how crap the food we buy from supermarket really is. a regular whole chicken contains 1 PINT of fat!! just through the way these animals are being grown. milk, eggs, veggies and red meats have had all the bad reports.. makes you think when your trying to cut up dont it?? so im ditching the chicken and eating more fish.

do you know what crap they give fish in fish farms ? stuff to change their colour so they sell better !

it was the spit roasted chickens they were refering to in the program which may contain upto a pint of fat. Chicken breasts have little fat (cheap ones have a lot of water though)

everything is tainted somehow, unless you go an organic farm to get your meats and vegetables from.

i do agree with you, i saw it

i think with food you do generally get what you pay for and as stone said, organic is getting to be the way if you want "clean" food

When I was a kid my dad had an allotment, our spuds would be dug up when ready, put in big brown paper sacks and left in our shed, and they would last us a full year without growing or going soft, compare that to the crap you get in supermarkets, which goes soft and starts growing after a week of being opened. We grew allsorts of stuff and TBh it's one of the reasons i dont eat as much veg as i should, simply because compared to freshly grown stuff supermarket veg is crap. There is a lot to be said for good old horse manure as a fertiliser as our stuff was generally bigger than what you can buy today too.

Stone - very true, not so bad if you can find an organic farm to buy straight from
