I actully think exteme synthol use is a form of self-mutilation and indicative of mental health issues.

These people need understanding, not derision IMO.

Agree. It's the same with cosmetic surgery obsessives, and even anorexics. They just don't see what they are doing to themselves the same way others do.

Pretty obvious that extreme use is not exactly what you would call normal. But if that makes them happy then fair enough.

If it makes them happy then fair enough? What if they have a mental health issue?

An anorexic/bulhimic may say that being the way they are makes them happy, they may even genuinely believe that, but they still need treatment/help!

I kinda class this in the same league as ridiculously sized boobs, i.e. extreme, in that at some point someone needs to be looking at the underlying cause.

Changing yourself in this way is never going to make you happy in the long term.

NB: Those of you agreeing that the guy has mental health issues and yet is a tool obviously don't understand the wretched nature of mental illness.

I can't help but wonder how these sorts of arms progress over time.

How long did it take to get them into that state?
Did the guy start off with an intention to use just a little - add just a bit of size? And then the drive for size became slowly obsessive?
Or did he have that freakshow in mind from the start?

At the end of the day, they train to have large muscles and in their eyes this is a way of attaining them.
We can't judge if they are mentally ill or not, just by looking at them.

1st guy just looks like he's 50% bodyfat, with most of it being stored on his arms

You can judge mental illness by observing someones behaviour, this is how mental illnesses are diagnosed.

The fact is the behaviour that leads to this appearance is indicative of some sort of mental heath issue. Not certain, but indicative.

It's not exactly the sort of thing a perfectly sane person would do is it?
