    Hi mate,

Yea, Ive just had a pop at the IM Lanzarote, had to retire after 165KM on the bike stage with knee injury. Will be back to the same location in 2008 to settle the score.

Training as you know will take up more time than the gym does but it depends on how good a swimmer you are and the distance you wish to race at.

Expect to lose quite a bit of muscle tissue if your training seriously.

Have a search on the net for companies who hire out bikes/wetsuits if need be. Saves quite a bit of cash outlay at the start.

Entry fees for races can be quite dear. Half Ironman is usually 150 quid and the full IM around 240 quid. Shorter events tend to be quite alot cheaper.

If you choose to enter long distance events then expect it to take over your life as someweeks you will be putting in 20 hour weeks.

Have fun buddy and let us know who you get on!

    regards, Rich
