i got stung fighting a 2 yr battle over a private sell used car.
it had a irish plate , hence hard to tell the yr.
the vin plate under bonnet tells the year eg 89, 90.
the uk owner took it to ireland, got irish plate, but put down wrong yr.
then it came to uk, and so the british dvla trusted the irish dvla.
now 3 uk owners bought it with the wrong yr on logbook.I found out and could not sell it as a newer car.
i sold it as a loss.
the dvla said each owner has a legal right to disclose yr of manufacture./
Ultimately it was the first person that took it to Ireland that was at fault, no the DVLA.
