RE: whats with eurosport now?
Ok - this is going to be long and complicated...
Up until last year the "Super-Series" was run by World Class Events, but was sanctioned by IFSA. TWI own the titles "Britian's Strongest Man" and "World's Strongest Man", and IFSA run these contest in association with TWI. You with me so far?
End of last year:
World Class Events and TWI join forces and break away from IFSA.
Now you have TWI/World Class running the Super-Series, Britian's Strongest Man, and World's Strongest Man.
However most of the top athletes (pretty much 90%) signed contracts with IFSA, who are putting on their own series of international contests. They also run a rival "British Strongman Championship" and "World Strongman Championship".
So far I think IFSA are still negotiating a tv deal for the contests they have run this year, although they have been filmed by a TV production company. TWI/World Class managed to get Sky Sports to show their (very dissapointing) BSM contest, although I'm not sure if they have managed to get a broadcaster in the UK for this year's WSM/Super-series as yet.
I'm guessing that the problems might be:
TWI/World Class owns the long running titles like WSM, BSM and the "Super-Series", but they don't have the top athletes to really appeal to the broadcasters.
IFSA has 90% of the best strongmen under contract, but they dont have the well known titles of "World's Strongest Man" etc to offer....
I really hope IFSA get a TV deal sorted, I'm sure they will before long. Some of their contests have been televised in some countries already I think.
I really hope things get resolved before much longer.
