Change when your progress stalls. Start off with changing reps, then rest, then exercises, then if all else fails, change your routine.

No need for a set amount of time before you change. If it works, why change it.

same as fun meter said, yeah growth does slow down after few years, best thing to do, watch your weight look for 0.5lb increase in weight every week or 2, look for adding a few kg extra every few weeks or adding extra rep, messure body parts every few weeks. if nothings changing then look at changing your routine, and look at your diet

    CURRENT STAT
    get shreded. 16st 7lbs-15st 7lbs 6ft, to 14st 9lbs (Feb 2011)

    change either when.....

you get bored of some exercises
you get an injury preventing some exercises

if the routine is good in the first place, number 1 shouldnt happen and hopefully number 2 shouldnt either
