which is the best pathway?

Basically i want to get a home gym comprising of weights, bench and rack

At the moment i have a basic 40kg dumbel and barbel set

I am now lifting much heavier and i go to a gym which is pretty expensive

At this gym i am using the Olympic weights etc and i wanted the Olympic weights for at home for me to use

however i realise that these don't come cheap and so would it still be as effective if i just got a lot more weight for my current set? Or should i sell this current set on eBay and save up for an Olympic set?

depends how much you have got to commit to it mate.

if you have the money now then get an olympic set.

if not just get more plates for the kit you have, when you out-grow it sell up and start again

It comes down to what Swift mentioned... 'depends how much you have got to commit to it' !?

When i started out i had a very basic weights set with disks that i could fill with sand or water, i then got the basic 50 quid York metal barbell dumbell set that is often found in Argos. I then just brought extra 10kg plates as and when i needed them.

As my progression grew i then moved on to a 140kg Weider 7ft Olympic barbell set.
