working out Legs?

Hi, i keep hearing if you train legs more often, by doing squats, and other forms of leg exercises, it doesnt just give you big legs but also a big upper body as well?

Correct, Squats use most muscles in your body, same with Deadlifts. It also knocks around more test around your body for huge mass gains.

If you think, when squatting, you are using your arms to keep the bar on the top of your back / shoulders. You core (back and abs) are there to stabilize you while you do the exercise. You legs are obviously being used.

Deadlifts, legs are used and hips. It's a back exercise so obviously back again, arms (huge grip strength) to grab the weight.

Either way, if you don't squat, you're a pussy. So squat!

you can get a good upper body with no leg work, there are plenty of people in the world who can display that. However if you want to get past the point of just being 'in good shape' and put on some serious size, there comes a point (I believe) where your secondary muscle groups will not outgrow your skeletal muscle mass; by that I mean you are not going to get 20-inch arms or a 150kg bench if your back, core and yes legs are not up to snuff. I am a firm believer in the theory that the human body will not grow if said growth would mean that the body as a whole would be significantly imbalanced; we all see the skinny kids in the gym doing a million bicep curls a week, but they are lucky if they get half an inch of growth.

Bit of a ramble; yes, do some squats, they're good fun anyway

    Current training: 6-day split
Current cycle: Test E @ 500mg per week

    Current stats:
    Height : 192cm
    Weight : 272lbs
    Body Fat : 15.4%

Ill echo the points by the previous 2 posters.
You can get in decent shape with no leg work, i know people with decent upper body and no leg work, but they just look stupid imo as their arms are about twice the size of their calves.
