xbox 360 - worth buying?

Hi all

Finally should have some money soon, as have new tenants in my flat :-) so want to buy something important and xbox 360, have to confess never even played a next gen console before, so looking to see what people think of theres?

Lots of guys at working have them, but alot of people telling me to buy a PS3 instead, but I have my mid set on a 360, so any recommendations on which one? There are 20gb, 60gb, 120gb and I dont even know why a console has so much space lol

any gamers here ;)

cheers

I've got a PS3 and a 360, PS3 is never really on compared to XBOX.  Just prefer most things about it.  Someone else will come along and say something different.

For the XBOX, a bigger hard drive is preferable cos a lot of stuff will be downloadable in future (compared to now) and the best way to play games is normally to install them to the disk, and at 4Gb or more each time, they very quickly use up space.

Go with the xbox there better for online play imho. the only down fall is they break all the time! even so id still always be faithful to my xbox :).
Regarding the hardrive, depends on what you want to use your xbox for? watching downloaded films and music etc be best to go for the 120gb. If its only to play games then go for the 20gb hd

    cheers guys, helpful replies

So you can save the game on to the HD and save time in loading the game then?

I did read about the RROD which put me off, but apparently the new chipset revisions are out and hope to stop the rrod?

Yes, you can install the contents of the disk onto the hard drive basically, makes the machine a heck of a lot quieter.

With the RROD you've basically got a 3 year guarantee against that so I think it's worth the risk.  When mine did it, I had it sent of and back in about a week.

Ah I see, so thats not bad then...as most of them failed within a year or 2 anyway I would have thought

so gaming wise, the 360 is better than ps3? though opions differ i guess

The newer 175 watt 360s have pretty much help do away with teh rrod failures and E74 failures, tho they are still backed by the 3 year warrenty.

Still more fun on a 360 for me.

Does the Xbox have many games you can just pick up and play for 30 mins and leave for a day and come back rather than epics that needs good 6 hours sessions?

I just want arcade style games really.

Not that my view will sway you....I've had two 360s and two PS3s and imo there is no difference.

I have a PS3 now for the Bluray player and the fact that it looks so much better than the 360

Ok I'll have o admit I am swaying towards an elite.

The new revsions (jasper chipsets) are now only 150w and so far no reports of the rrod, and are cheaper than the PS3, blueray is nice... but DVD's are fine for me at the moment

Well they are alot less yes, but a good margin, but check most of the techy forums and poeple are still having probs.

Quite alot of PS3 probs starting to show now too.
